This is my very first blog post. I've just signed in to Jude Hill's SEW group. I noticed that many of the other students have blogs and I wanted to play with "the big girls"... he he! So here we go... This will allow me to say more about the pieces I'm working on when I feel long-winded. I'm also looking forward to sending this link to my friends and family so they can see what I'm up to.
The workshops I've been doing with Jude have been transforming. I love watching over her shoulder as she works. I find her art to be compelling on so many levels. It's not just the visuals, I love the words as well.
I returned to sewing about a year ago when I wanted to make a baby quilt for a friend. But it was not until I found Spirit Cloth that I really felt inspired. I find that the part of sewing I love the most is the hand work. It is so calming. I never go anywhere without my kit. Now I am never waiting, I always have something I want to do. If I'm not sewing I'm thinking about my next project. I love going on-line and seeing the work of the other student in the class, it is so inspiring. I love reading and writing the comments. It is such a wonderful community.
I made this small wall hanging last week as a gift for an old friend. I was surprised that it came together so quickly. I'm sure that was because I had purchased a collection of indigo fabrics from Glennis and the pieces were all there for me. Indigo dyed fabrics are amazing to work with.
So there we have it for now. Thanks for checking this out.
